Alex Carrick

The following are my ruminations on the passage of time and the aging process.

There are also some wry observations on how tolerant society is towards the elderly.

What’s required may be a little more patience. Of course, most of this is tongue in cheek.

Tick-tock or digital flash,

seconds race a headlong dash.

Minutes to hours to

days then to years,

accumulation of time

soon ranks first in our fears.

My advice to compadres

who are long in the tooth?

Choose your words wisely

when speaking with youth.

Reminisce once too often

hikes the price you may pay.

Keep present before past

or they’ll put you away.

The silly poetry continues in The Ethical Auctioneer. Have fun bidding on your favorite art object, but be wary not to overextend yourself. Seems like obvious good advice, doesn’t it?  But…

“Wry” observations, indeed… a perfect word choice, as always, Alex. It’s ticking me at the moment, because I’m approaching one of those birthdays; the one where traditionally I’m supposed to have more to look backwards at than forwards to. Poppycock 🙂

Ha ha my kids would agree as they role their eyes at stories I tell. I remind then I pat for their phones and they have to listen. 😛

[…] Giving in to nostalgia is fine once in a while, but there can be serious repercussions if you Reminisce Once Too Often. […]
