There is a symbiotic relationship between me, my wife and my blog that tells me I have a really special mate.

Here are ten ways in which the three of us interact.

(1) She doesn’t get too upset when I include her in some of my blog entries. I should add that Donna does have veto power when I stray too far from propriety.

(2) She doesn’t mind that I write about the kids sometimes. Our children certainly enjoy it. They may not always understand what I’m saying, but they love to see their names in print.

(3) She has gotten used to my waking up at 4:00 in the morning and jotting down some notes to be used in a future blog entry.

(4) Sometimes, she’ll even take notes as we’re driving in the car, when a particularly brilliant idea (says I) pops into my head. Bless her for this, since otherwise I’d have to remember a whole bunch of off-the-wall phrases and topic ideas.

(5) She listens relatively patiently a second and a third and (sometimes) a fourth time to the same blog story that I’ve revised once again by changing the text microscopically.

(6) She’s the one who once said to me, “You need to get a life! Start a blog.”

(7) Alone amongst all our friends and relatives, she’s the only one who doesn’t say, “Where’s Alex? Is he off writing another one of his BLAWGS?”

(8) She only shakes her head and sighs when I end every conversation we now have with the words, “That would make a good blog story.”

(9) She understands that putting together a blog entry is my escape route out of doing housework, yard work and a host of other onerous duties.

(10) She has her own attention-demanding, almost all-consuming blog site.

The delicate relationships between family members can last a long, long time. Even into the afterlife, as in A Father and Son Explore Some Grey Areas.
